The King is Not Just Coming… He’s Arriving In style

Bollywood superstar King Khan (Shah Rukh) makes his dazzling Met Gala debut in a majestic Sabyasachi Mukherjee ensemble.
Bollywood royalty is about to storm the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art with all the grandeur of a full-blown Raj-era procession. Yes, you heard right—King Khan, our very own Shah Rukh, King of Hearts (and occasionally of intense brooding stares), is all set to make his grand Met Gala debut today, 5th May (ET), and fashionistas across the globe are already fanning themselves in anticipation.
The news dropped like a well-timed plot twist in a Karan Johar film, as SRK’s manager, Pooja Dadlani Gurnani, and celebrated designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee took to Instagram Stories and simply wrote:
“King Khan. Bengal Tiger.”
No bells, no whistles, just pure, delicious drama. Honestly, if subtlety were an Olympic sport, they’d both win gold.
Now, if that’s not a mic drop moment, we don’t know what is.
This year’s Met Gala theme, with a focus on menswear and the historical influence of black male style, promises to be a dazzling affair. And with Shah Rukh draped in Sabyasachi—whose outfits could make even a scarecrow look couture—we’re fairly certain he’ll turn heads faster than you can say “DDLJ.” Picture it: regal silks, opulent embroidery, and that unmistakable SRK charm—he’ll be strutting those famous steps like it’s a Yash Raj climax.
He won’t be gallivanting alone, mind you. Joining the debutante brigade are Diljit Dosanjh, the turbaned troubadour with a Gucci fixation, and Kiara Advani, who’s already practised enough red-carpet hair flicks to qualify for a Met masterclass.
Of course, Shah Rukh follows in the stilettoed footsteps of fellow desi dazzlers—Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt, who have all left their sparkly imprint on the Met carpet. But dare we say, the King might just eclipse them all—not that it’s a competition, but if it were… we know who’d be holding the crown and the camera.
Last year, Sabyasachi himself walked the Met carpet, making history as the first Indian designer to do so. This year, he’s returning as the royal couturier to the Badshah of Bollywood. Honestly, at this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Met renamed itself the “Mukherjee Museum of Marvels” by 2030.
Meanwhile, back on the work front, SRK, a sprightly 59 (and still causing mass heart palpitations), is gearing up for his next film ‘King’, helmed by Siddharth Anand. Rumour has it, his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan are also part of the royal cast. Dynasty goals, anyone?
As we await the first photos from New York—where the flashbulbs will be popping like Diwali crackers—we’ll leave you with this: If style had a surname, tonight it would be Khan.
The King is not just coming… he’s arriving. In style.
