Russia Beats Historic Koh-i-Noor!

Russian Diamond

They did not mistake it as a porous piece of rock jutting out of a swathe of sand,mud and heavy grey water.It was more than a piece of rock.

The stunning diamond, aged between 120 to 230 million years, was mined in Arctic Yakutia, Siberia, early this month.

The deep amber coloured rough gem is considered to be the largest and the most ancient uncut diamond (236 carats) mined so far.

The mine belongs to the ALROSA Group, which says it is studying and evaluating the gem.

The world famous Koh-i-Noor was mined in medieval times in the Kollur Mine in Andhra Pradesh, India.
