Guru Purnima is a festival or a ritual celebrated by the Hindus, Jains and Buddhists.

It is celebrated to show respect and gratitude to all our Gurus. It is believed that on this day Lord Shiva gave the knowledge of Yoga to the Saptarishis and became the first Guru but Buddhists believe that on this day Lord Gautam Buddhah gave his first sermon at Sarnath.
