The agency recently unveiled “Dur Ajanay,” a Bengali travel song designed to transport listeners to the serene, breathtaking beauty of the mountains. The track, presented by Khukumoni Sindur and Alta, was released at Chapter 2, Southern Avenue, just in time for the festive season.
The song marks a historic first-time collaboration between Antara Chowdhury (daughter of the legendary Salil Chowdhury) and Soumya Dasgupta, a team-up that brings together the legacies of two musical giants, Salil Chowdhury and Sudhin Dasgupta.
The story of “Dur Ajanay” began with Sudipta Chanda, the song’s lyricist and composer. Chanda has dedicated himself to creating a unique space for Bengali travel songs since the pandemic. For him, a song is more than just a tune; it’s a journey. He believes music should be paired with picturesque visuals, allowing listeners to feel as if they are right there in the mountains.
The music video for “Dur Ajanay” was filmed at Yogi Ghat in West Bengal. It follows the on-screen journey of two friends, played by Sudipta Chanda and Nilanjan Saha, who share a love for mountain travel. The cinematography, by Subhajit Das, beautifully captures the rugged landscape, while Ranodeep Mukherjee’s key programming adds depth to the soundtrack. Soumya Dasgupta, who arranged the music, also contributed beautiful guitar pieces, adding a layer of soothing melody.
At the official release event, held to mark International Tourism Day, a host of celebrated personalities were in attendance, including Debajyoti Mishra, Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee, and the key artists themselves.
Both Antara Chowdhury and Soumya Dasgupta expressed their delight in working on the song. Antara praised the “simplicity” of Sudipta’s tune, while Soumya described the track as “very soothing.” Their combined creative energy has resulted in a song that feels both fresh and deeply resonant.
