Walking through this Himalayan town, the Dogs of Kalimpong are a delightful surprise, making every street corner feel like a James Herriot book. A photo essay by Lina Krishnan
As I walk through this small Himalayan town, I’m reminded of its history; how it was once on the trade route to Tibet. It’s lovely to feel the mountain breeze, and orchids are everywhere. As are the dogs. Every house or shop front has a dog lying in the sunshine or sitting up at knee level. Bhutias, pekingese, frisky terriers, stately retrievers, pugs with melting eyes, eager waggers of all kinds at every turn. It’s like walking into the pages of a James Herriot.
