AIIMS Security Guard Alleges Sexual Harassment by CSO
A devoted foodie with keen interest in wild life, music,…
The troubling incident at AIIMS-Delhi where a female guard has accused the chief security officer of sexual harassment and caste discrimination.
Well, well, well. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, here we are, faced with yet another shocking incident of sexual harassment in our so-called “progressive” nation. The latest disgraceful episode unfolds at AIIMS-Delhi, where a female guard has accused none other than the chief security officer of sexual harassment and caste discrimination. It seems that the rot runs deep, and it’s high time we pulled our heads out of the sand and faced the music.
In a country still reeling from the horrific incidents of rape in Kolkata and beyond, you’d think the powers that be would have learned a thing or two about treating women with respect and dignity. But alas, it appears that common sense is in short supply. This latest case has prompted the esteemed AIIMS to initiate a probe into the allegations. Let’s give a round of applause to the bureaucratic machinery that’s about to swing into action, albeit a tad late.
According to an office memorandum dated October 15, the inquiry will be conducted by Dr K K Verma, Dean Academics, and Dr Punit Kaur, HoD Biophysics. One can’t help but wonder—will this be yet another case of “let’s sweep it under the carpet”? Both committees are expected to file preliminary reports within seven days, which sounds impressive until you realise that seven days in the bureaucratic world often translates to “don’t hold your breath”.
Sources suggest that the female guard’s grievances stemmed from a rather unpleasant encounter when she went to discuss her duty roster with the chief security officer. Instead of a professional conversation, she was allegedly met with harassment and a slew of casteist remarks. It’s disheartening to see how some individuals wield their power, and it’s utterly revolting that such behaviour continues to thrive in our institutions.
And let’s not forget, when approached for comments, the AIIMS authorities flatly refused to speak on the matter. A classic case of “let’s not rock the boat.” But here’s the thing—this isn’t just about one incident. It’s about the culture of silence and complicity that allows such revolting behaviour to fester. Women are tired of being treated as second-class citizens, and it’s high time we collectively shouted “enough is enough!”
It’s a damn shame that in a country bursting with potential, we’re still grappling with the same old demons of discrimination and harassment. If the institutions that are supposed to protect us can’t get their act together, then what hope do we have? The battle for equality and respect isn’t just a woman’s fight; it’s a fight for all of us who believe in decency and justice.
As we await the outcome of this investigation, let’s remember that true change demands action, not mere lip service. Let’s challenge the status quo, demand accountability, and ensure that the voices of those who dare to speak up are not silenced. The time for change is now, and it’s time we make some noise!
