The evening sky has been a matter of romantic interest since ages. Hajar Srote the latest song published by Chandrima Bhattacharya in her youtube channel depicts this romanticism.
There is a significant amount of romanticism which revolves around the night sky. The creative fraternity has explored this mystique quality of the night sky time and again, by doing so they have been inspired to create an eclectic mix of creativity. Who does not know ‘The Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh which remains as a symbol of excellence and a subject of research even after 133 years since it was painted. Such examples of creativity can be seen all over the world. Our own Himanhshu Dutta’s ‘Chand Kohe Chameli Go’ or Tagore’s ‘Alokeri jhornadharay bhoria dao’ and many more are all pirouetting within the same subject. Following the same lines the latest Bengali original by vocalist Chandrima Bhattacharya, is based on a lyrical poem praising the night and the quest of the mystery of nature.
Chandrima Bhattacharya, the soothing voice from the valleys of Assam, was trained by Dr Manjulika Hazarika of Lucknow Gharana and Dr Prabal Sarma of Gwalior Gharana in early days. She got her formal training in classical music from of Assam under these two great musicians. Starting her carrier in music from All India Radio Guwahati she performed Bhajan. She received great appreciation as a Bhajan singer. Finding her call she continued her Masters from Pracheen Kala Kendra in Chandigarh in the field of Hindustani Classical music.

Thereafter when she moved to the cultural city of Kolkata in pursuit of her musical career, she continued her training under the guidance of Bidushi Smt Shipra Basu for harnessing the skills of Semi classical music and also received vocal training from musician Shri Goutam Ghosal. From early days, Chandrima made her niche as a performing artist taking her shows from various parts of Bengal and almost all states of India.
Her latest song is a hymn to the “Bibhabhori” or the mysterious night sky is a romantic quest of the inspired soul having infinite reasons to admire the creation of the heavenly universe. Hajar Srote is a song that praises the night and the solitude that it brings to a lover’s heart. The song is a beautiful combination of words and tunes weaved together. Surrounded by the calm and the starry lights in dark canvas, the captivated heart experienced unexpected outbursts of emotion. The note flies the flag in the stronghold of one’s heart, governing unshakable love. One can also see an appropriate painting Sudin Malik which complimented the song in the video.
The song has been released on the Chandrima’s official YouTube channel, as well as available on noted streaming services. The lyrics was written by Writwik and Soumodeep jointly and the music composed by Writwik Bhandary. Chandrima has contributed her vocals to a beautiful arrangements done by Ronodeep Mukherjee (Manu). The release of the song on digital music platforms coincides well with the season of celebration for the festival of light under the dark sky. Chandrima Bhattacharya said, “It is all about praising the night. Its own charm its own importance, nicely composed by Writwik Bhandary. The music video comprises of a story of a dark night.”
