Get ready for Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan, the third instalment in the Jawker Dhan series, hitting theatres on May 30, 2025. Directed by Sayantan Ghosal, this adventure brings back Koel Mallick, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Gaurav Chakrabarty as they unravel the mysteries of the Golden Fort in Jaisalmer.

The wait is finally over, ladies and gents. Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan, the third instalment in the Jawker Dhan series, is gearing up to hit the silver screen on May 30, 2025. Announced with much fanfare by Surinder Films this past Saturday, the film promises to blend a curious concoction of mystery, history, and a dash of that old-fashioned adventure we’ve come to expect from the franchise. And from what we gather, this one’s got a twist up its sleeve that’ll leave you on the edge of your seat, or perhaps even off it altogether!

Directed by the ever-talented Sayantan Ghosal, Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan is no ordinary continuation. As Surinder Films teased on Instagram, this movie “bridges the future in the story of pre-birth” and “reveals the mystery of the Golden Fort.” If you’re scratching your head, don’t worry, you’re not alone. But it sure sounds like the sort of plot that might just require a second viewing—and possibly a magnifying glass.

The Golden Fort Beckons

The first look at the film, courtesy of a motion poster, gives us a tantalising glimpse of the Jaisalmer Fort, bathed in golden sunshine. The legendary 860-year-old fortress stands as a silent witness to the unfolding adventure, as our intrepid trio—Koel Mallick (as Dr Ruby Chatterjee), Parambrata Chattopadhyay (Bimal), and Gaurav Chakrabarty (Kumar)—traverse the vast desert, bags in hand, determined to uncover the secrets of the Golden Fort.

It’s clear that Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan has upped the ante. While the previous films gave us a taste of treasure hunts and unravelling mysteries, this one is set to take us deep into the realm of past lives, forgotten memories, and—wait for it—philosopher’s stones. Yes, that mythical parashpathar is back, and if the motion poster is anything to go by, we’re in for a visual treat that will have us longing for the sands of time… or at least a return ticket to Rajasthan.

Meet Mukul, All Grown Up

If you’re familiar with Satyajit Ray’s Sonar Kella (1971), you’ll remember the little boy Mukul, who was the heart of the story. Fast forward to the present day, and Mukul is all grown up, played by Suprabhat Das. The catch? Mukul’s memories of his past life are starting to return—and they come with a whole heap of baggage, including the need to find that pesky parashpathar that has eluded so many before him.

Accompanied by Dr Ruby, Bimal, and Kumar, Mukul’s journey is bound to be one filled with suspense, laughs, and a fair bit of head-scratching. After all, who doesn’t love a bit of time travel, a dusty old fort, and a handful of enigmatic characters wandering through the desert in search of an ancient secret?

A Nod to Ray’s Classic

Of course, it wouldn’t be Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan without paying homage to Ray’s iconic Sonar Kella. Shot primarily in Jaisalmer—where Ray’s film also found its home—this film brings a fresh perspective to the beloved classic. The desert, the fort, the mystique—it’s all here, just with a little more pizzazz and a lot more modern-day intrigue.

The franchise, which started in 2017 with Jawker Dhan and was followed by Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan in 2019, has evolved into a thrilling saga. While both previous films showcased the dynamic of Bimal and Kumar, this third outing seems poised to add layers of mystery and perhaps even a touch of nostalgia.

Adventure, Mystery, and a Dash of Nostalgia

For fans of the series, Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan is shaping up to be the perfect concoction of old-school adventure and new-age thrill. With a strong ensemble cast, breathtaking locales, and a plot that promises to tease both the mind and the heart, this one’s sure to be an entertaining ride. And who knows, if the mystery of the Golden Fort is anything like the last few, we might just need a few more trips to Jaisalmer to get to the bottom of it all.

So, mark your calendars for May 30, 2025. The Jawker Dhan gang is back, and they’re bringing the golden adventure to theatres near you. Better pack your bags, because this treasure hunt is one you won’t want to miss.
