MBSE Results: Girls Tops The Mizoram's Class 12 Results

Mizoram’s MBSE Class 12 board results are out, with an impressive 81.10% pass rate and girls topping all streams. Read how Cynthia, Lalrammawii, and Kristin led the academic charge in this witty British take on academic brilliance.

In a result that’s caused more jubilation than a surprise Bank Holiday, the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) declared its Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) results on Tuesday, and let’s just say — the girls didn’t just pass; they positively waltzed to victory. With an overall pass rate of 81.10%, one might say Mizoram’s students are putting the rest of us to shame, and doing so with rather good penmanship.

Announced with great fanfare (and presumably a few trembling knees) from the Board’s headquarters in Chaltlang, Aizawl, the results were nothing short of a jolly good show. The stream-wise pass percentages made for pleasant reading:

  • Arts: 81.13%

  • Science: 85.63%

  • Commerce: 74.42%

While the blokes were presumably still rubbing the sleep out of their eyes, the girls were out there clinching top ranks and rewriting history — or at least their school yearbooks. Not one, not two, but all three top spots were bagged by female students, leaving the lads muttering something about “bad exam lighting” and “unfair planetary alignments.”

Let’s meet our leading ladies, shall we?

  • Arts Topper: Lalrammawii Tochhawng of Mount Carmel School, Aizawl, scored a jaw-dropping 471 out of 500 — that’s 94.2% for those who like their stats with extra decimal points.

  • Science Supremacy: Cynthia Lalhlupuii Shangpliang of St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, who decided that topping one board exam just wouldn’t do. After topping the HSLC last year with 485, she’s now aced HSSLC with a stratospheric 477. Honestly, someone hand this girl a cape already.

  • Commerce Queen: Kristin Laldinpuii Ralte of Oikos Higher Secondary School led her stream with 470 marks — a score that made accountants across the country raise an approving eyebrow.

Out of 12,281 registered candidates, a whopping 12,105 appeared for the exams, conducted across 100 centres statewide. That’s more centres than a posh shopping mall. Of these, 8,658 took the Arts route, 2,798 braved the Science gauntlet, and 649 opted for Commerce — probably imagining themselves as future tycoons in tailored blazers and fast-talking boardrooms.

Interestingly, the fairer sex outnumbered the lads by 1,015 examinees, proving yet again that when it comes to grit and gumption, the girls of Mizoram aren’t here to play — unless it’s Scrabble, in which case they’ll probably beat you at that too.

Performance-wise, we’ve got:

Among schools, there was some serious reason to throw a party — or at least a modest tea and biscuit gathering. In the Arts stream, 46 out of 207 schools boasted a 100% pass rate, while two schools sadly watched tumbleweeds roll past their results list. The Science stream, being the brainy bunch, saw all 69 schools record successful candidates. Commerce, not to be outdone but still trailing slightly, had two schools drawing a blank.

So what’s the takeaway here? If you’re a student in Mizoram, especially a young woman, you’re not just carrying a schoolbag — you’re carrying the hopes of a proud region. And if you’re a boy who didn’t make the cut, well… there’s always next year, and maybe brush up on your notes before the exam week, eh?

Well done, Mizoram! Now someone give those girls a well-earned cuppa and the weekend off.
