In the realms of my childhood recollections, there exists a vivid memory of immersing myself in the captivating narrative of “Shadashiv Obhijan” penned by the illustrious Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. This tale left an indelible mark on my impressionable mind, causing me to develop an ardent admiration for the enigmatic protagonist, Shibaji. As the hands of time gently propelled me towards adulthood, I understood more about him, unearthing the remarkable exploits and guerilla warfare techniques employed by this extraordinary leader. Thus, as we delve into the history of 6th June, let us traverse back to the year 1674 when Shibaji ascended the regal throne as the sovereign of the illustrious Maratha kingdom.

On this day a historic event took place at the Raigad fort in Maharashtra, India. This day marked the crowning of Shivaji Maharaj as the king and the simultaneous assumption of the title “Chhatrapati.” The coronation of Shivaji Maharaj holds immense significance in the history of the Maratha Empire and the struggle for independence against Mughal rule.

Shivaji Maharaj, born in 1630, was a visionary warrior and a brilliant strategist. He established the Maratha Empire, which played a crucial role in challenging the dominance of the Mughal Empire in India during the 17th century.
