The ‘Drive Hridaya’ Car Rally, organized by the Rotary Club of Calcutta Old City, has become Kolkata’s most anticipated and grand event for automobile enthusiasts and philanthropists alike. In its fifth year, this rally transcends the boundaries of a mere car race and treasure hunt, emerging as a powerful means to touch the lives of less privileged children. This heartfelt event has not only provided thrills to participants but has also funded 48 heart operations for young superheroes, ensuring their well-being and happiness.
Adding a splash of creativity to the initiative, the Rotary Club is set to release an eye-catching calendar titled ‘Car-nival’ in association with Surojit Kala. This calendar features rare moments of celebrities from the film and music industry with their favorite cars. The selected moments are timeless, emphasizing that legends from yesteryears shared a deep passion for automobiles too.

From Kishore Kumar posing with the vintage car from ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gadi’ to Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor exuding elegance with a big Rolls Royce, each image is a testament to the enduring allure of cars.
Satyajit Ray is immortalized with his 1930 Chrysler, featured in ‘Abhijaan,’ while R.D. Burman is captured sitting on the road in front of his Fiat, two doors wide open. The calendar also pays homage to the legendary Mohd Rafi and his wife Bilquis Rafi, who are seen with their Chevrolet Chevelle, portraying a timeless image of Rafi Saab sitting on the car’s bonnet with his wife standing by his side.
The calendar transcends borders, featuring international icons like Charlie Chaplin alongside Indian stars like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Rituparna Sengupta, all striking poses with their beloved cars. This collector’s delight not only captures the glamour of the past but also serves as a visual treat for automobile enthusiasts.
